Cool Tools- Magnic

Kickstarter has hope all over it.  Lately a couple of bicycle products caught Fahzure's eye.  The Jiggernaut is a great solution for the hobby frame builder, especially working with composites or bamboo. But, Bike Tech of the Week comes in the form of the Magnic an inductive power system with no losses to friction.  Paramagnetics...Wow!:

No touch 10 second garlic peeling

Fall is also pesto making time around our house.  Buckets of washed basil:
Garlic peeled the 10 second method:

This year Fahzure and Mrs. Fahzure grew about 20 Basil plants and 200 heads of garlic.  We'll try to put up about 3 gallons of pesto, so having to peel 15 or so heads of garlic can be a real chore and hard on your hands. I use the side of a Chef's knife or cleaver to break apart the heads, so I don't end up touching the garlic hardly at all:

A couple of caveats, it's about 10 seconds per head, and with the bowls the size in the video, about 10 heads is the efficient limit. This method does generate a bit of waste in that the tips of the cloves often break off, mixing with the husks.

Cool Tools- The coolest of tools

The instant I saw this, I knew I had to have one.  Colin was cool (what else could he be) enough to give me his personal one:

It's got a pressure gauge, pump and nozzle.  I've already started to think of the mods possible. What is it?  The Orbit Arizona Mist personal mister of course:

Why is it cool? 1. it is only about $25; 2. you can use it as a water bottle; 3. a few pump strokes get you minutes of mist; 4. it really works.

Orbit, a Utah company, has donated thousands of personal misters to troops in Iraq. On our ride over the weekend, one of the Posse members had an allergic/asthma attack.  I'm pretty sure that the mister saved the ride.

Cool Tools-The (non)Emergency Hanger

I picked up one of these a long time back knowing it would save my day, make a friend or both:

I've not been (un)fortunate enough to need it.  It's designed to fit on just about any QR to get you back home.  Though with the further outboard placement you'll likely be missing your granny gear.  Wheels Manufacturing in Boulder makes all kinds of cool bike bits.

Bogart had an even better idea with the addition of a chainring bolt convert your vinty mixte into a solid hanger style drop:

There were an awfully lot of Peugeot, Raliegh, Gitane and Libetas mixtes made with dropouts without hangers.  My theory: the frames could be sold as 3 or 10 speed bikes.  What's yours?
